Scotty Bowman retires after winning the stanley cup tonight. He breaks the record by a coach with 9 stanley cups. probably the best coach ever. Good bye Scotty the sport of hockey will miss you.

You think Scotty Bowman has been collecting Social Security the last few years? I mean, he is 68 years old, and you can start collecting when you're 65. Of course, he's been employed full-time during that period. Hmm...not sure how that would work.

Great coach, no doubt about it...IMO, the best ever...
But I question the timing of this announcement.....
Now instead of his players getting the glory and talk they deserve, much of the focus is on his retirement......It should be about this great team's season and Cup victory...

I guess his announcement could have waited, but he's been rumored to have been contemplating retirement for years. It certainly can't be viewed as a surprise. It was one of the first questions the CBC asked him after the game.
Scotty could be the fist of many retirees on this team. Hasek and Larionov have to make decisions, as well. In addition, McCarty could price himself out of town. Robitaille may not be back as the rumors are the team was a little disappointed in his play. Could be a whole new look on Opening Day next season.
The search for a new coach will be interesting. I don't think Lewis or Smith are Holland's first choice.
