Is anyone watching this game on ESPN?
Geoff Jenkins, of Milwaukee, just went down with a horrible, horrible injury at 3rd base. He was running to get back to base, and it looked like his ankle just buckled as he went into the base..... he was lying grimacing on the ground for a long time. They showed the play twice, and then actually said that was enough, thank God. You could see it turn. It was sickening to see. You could tell he was screaming in agony. His teammates were in shock in the dugout, and very, very upset. He was just taken off in an ambulance.
They'll give us an update.
He had just made a beautiful catch in left field, the last inning, robbing Richard Hidalgo of the Astros of a two-run homer.
Geez. :ohno:

For God's sake!!!! This game is cursed!!! :uhoh: A 2nd Brewer goes down with an injury!!! Lance Berkman just knocked one to left field, and Alex Sanchez, who had taken over for Jenkins, in left field, ran into the railing going after it, and was writhing on the ground, holding his wrist, and then had to be carried off the field, because he had also hurt his knee, apparently.
Geez.
:ohno:
And, an update on Jenkins, his ankle is dislocated, which is good news. It looked, from the TV, that it was broken.... and badly broken.
Now I'm waiting for an update on Sanchez.

More updates.
Now they're saying there's extreme ligament damage to Jenkins' ankle. Lordy. I feel so bad for him. He was in such pain. :ohno:
Sanchez has a sprained wrist and a badly bruised knee.....
What a night for the Brewers.
Oh. They won.... 5-2.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Brewers lost two outfielders to injuries Monday
night, and Jose Hernandez homered and drove in four runs off Roy Oswalt
in Milwaukee's costly 5-2 victory over the Houston Astros.
Geoff Jenkins dislocated his right ankle and tore ligaments in the
joint and Alex Sanchez sprained his left hand and bruised his left
knee.
Jose Cabrera (3-4) gave up two runs on five hits in a career-high six
innings, and the Brewers (24-45) moved past the Tampa Bay Devil Rays
(23-44) out of the major league cellar.
Your the lucky ones.:scared:
I had to see it in person. :crying2:

Oh, man. :ohno: I had a feeling you were probably there.
My stomach still turns when I think about it. It must have been horrible to see.
Thoughts and prayers going out to Geoff Jenkins.

Was watching the game last night and was sickened by the obvious agony Jenkins was going through. Feel terrible for him, he was seemingly just starting to get the bat going and had played underrated defense all year. The look on Richie Sexsons face said it all (doesn't Sexson look alot like actor Matthew Modine?). In addition, losing both Jenkins and Sanchez on the same night will be a tough pill to swallow. It will be a good opportunity for Alex Ochoa to get some playing time and I hope the Brewers call up Izzy Alcantara. Alcantara blistered the ball all spring, batting about .400 and is playing well in the minors. Along with Sanchez, was one of the more exciting Brewers to watch this spring. Maybe some good will come out of it...Can only hope..Brewers do seem cursed. Just as they start getting their middle relievers healthy the every day players start breaking down.

Whoaaaaa, unfortunately that brought back all too familiar memories:barf:
Looked like my ankle:crying2: The only thing holding it together was the achillies tendon....Every other ligament around my ankle snapped.....
Geez, I hate seeing this:ohno:

Everyone I was with last night while watching the game immediately thought of Joe Theismann and his gruesome injury. Leg injuries of this nature are career changers...Even Robin Ventura, who never had speed to begin with, had trouble coming back from his ligament twisting.. He's never been the same hitter although he's still good..

Yeah Billy I also immediately thought of Joe T and also Alou's injury when I saw that....Best of luck with Jenkins in his recovery....

I feel bad for the brewers. Struggling as they have been and then losing players to injury...

Nice to see Sheets come up with a great outing tonight...Was shocked to see Ryan Thompson in the lineup (and hitting a triple). Hadn't heard his name anywhere in a while.
The good thing is the word was it looked far worse then it was.

I heard he already left the hospital yesterday. That's good.
James, good Lord! That's what happened to you?!? Yikes.
I still get nauseous thinking of his foot just hanging there. :uhoh:
