I like the sign. He's a capable backup, and that's what Maddox isn't.

I'm not excited. I guess Batch is okay, but he gets injured if someone looks at him too long. The guy also can make some HUGE mistakes. However, I'm still going to give him a chance to prove me wrong. Hopefully, though, the black and gold won't need him.

I know, Josh, that this was not what I said initially, but as I thought and thought about it at work last night, I think it is a bad move. IF it had been more than a one year deal, and we didn't already have maddox, I would say ok. BUT here is what essentially happens. Batch stays for a year. In order to keep him, we essentially have to either cut Tee Martin, or go with 4 QBs again as we did a few years ago. I do not see us going with 4 QBs. Especially should we end up keeping he 2nd kicker for kickoffs, and/or schneck is a long snapper (Please God, No..)

So then, next season, that leave us with Tommy and Kordell again. With no young QB to groom towards being a possible starter. I have not been impressed with the performance of Tee Martin thus far, and he has not done well at all in NFL Europe. BUT... I don't think it is time to give up on a guy who has 3 years in the system and at least would be further along than any new guy who we may draft next season.

I might be wrong, but i think you can still keep other players on your roster somehow, and not be on your 53-man game roster. I think if you put them on your practice squad, they can get paid, and not be free agents.

only people who have not spent an entire season on an NFL roster are eligible for the practice squad. That means Tee can't go on the practice squad.
