What was Billy Beane smoking anyways? Jeremy was off to a great start but then all of a sudden the A's traded him. And who did they get? John Mabry! This guy obviously has less talent than Giambi. Then what was the purpose of the trade if they got less talent in return?

Agreed, bad trade.
Something tells me that we haven't seen the end of this trade. There has to be a method to the madness. The finacially strapped A's cut some payroll when they gave away Jeremy (not much, 1.2 mil for one year). This might loosen the purse strings enough to go after some real players by the trading deadline.
Remember, even after the bogus trade, Billy Beane is still cosidered one of the top GM's in baseball.

I would have traded Terrance Long instead if I were the A's GM.
