Then they put them in a hard cover, with the name, brand, and grade on the top. I've never actually had one done, or seen one in real life, but i've seen pictures.

well Vin, I am a collector.. it is pretty easy to count them... they are all either in books.. or in the original boxes... each book holds 1000 cards... each box has the number of cards in the box written on it..

Tigers, baseball cards were originally used to sell tobacco products.

Wich books the 3 inch binders because I'm on my 3rd one but then you have probably been colecting for a heeluva long time. I've only been doing it for about a year half of my cards are ones from a couple of boxes of 80's cards:hmm: so in other words a binch of Clemnes and for some reason I only have 6 Ozzie Smith cards:hmm:. A lot of those cards are still in their boxes the 2 whole card boxes but each had 800 cards.

well vin, these books are actually of varying sizes.... I just put 1000 in each of them. I have been collecting since I was 10 years old back in 1986.

I was a serious collector from about 1980 thru 1995. I've sold most of my good stuff though. I had pretty much every set from the major companies from 1976 and up, and multiples of all the major rookie cards. I sold my 15 McGwire RC's when he hit #70, and I sold two Ripken Topps Traded RC's when he broke Gehrig's record. I also sold my two Michael Jordan RC's to pay for my first year of college.

I also collected lots of football and hockey. My brother and I used to hit all the local card shows in the mid 80's and buy lots of football and hockey wax boxes for $4 and $5 each. We only bought them because we loved the sports. We never expected the market to explode like it did back in the early 90's. But when it did, we had ALL the football and hockey rookies everyone wanted. Totally cool!!! I still have a lot of hockey stuff.

the problem with the baseball card market is that there was over-production in the late80s through the early 90s. Those sets, today, retail for only about $30. Which is less than what I paid for them initially. Over the past couple of years, there have been so many different companies manufacturing cards, that it has killed some of their value. When I first began collecting, there were really only 3 major companies (Topps, Donruss, and Fleer.) The Bowman company did start to produce cards again then for the first time since the 60s, and from there, companies have been jumping into the business like crazy.

I'm a big collector when it comes to autographs and things like that...Not much of a card collector myself but some of my favorites i do have are a McGwire USA rookie, Jeff Bagwell rookie, Griffey jr. rookie, Strawberry and Gooden rookies, Cal Ripken 2nd year and a few Shaq rookies.....I probably have a 2500-2500 cards that I used to collect when I was younger...

Oh yeah, I also have a rookie Donovan McNabb since he is my alltime favorite college player:biggrin:

I'm a pretty big card collector. I've been collecting since 1987, so every rookie since then I have.

The cards have only been pulled out once, so they all should be in pretty good shape.
