The Rockies recalled reliever Justin Speier from Triple-A Colorado Springs and designated left-handed reliever Horatio Estrada for assignment.
In Sunday night's loss to Los Angeles, Speier threw three innings of shutout ball, giving up two hits and striking out four. He had an 8.03 ERA in nine games during a June stint with the Rockies.
Estrada, reinstated from the 60-day disabled list July 15, gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 22-7 loss to the Dodgers.
