This is from TSN.ca:

(Jun 27) (tsn.ca) The Montreal Expos have acquired pitcher Bartolo Colon from the Cleveland Indians for first baseman Lee Stevens and three prospects.

The prospects include shortstop Brandon Phillips, outfielder Grady Sizemore and left-hander Cliff Lee.

Indians assistant general manager Chris Antonetti confirmed Thursday night in Boston that Colon would be traded, and said the deal would be announced at 9am et Friday in Cleveland. He declined to identify the other players in the trade.

However, a team source told the Associated Press that the Indians would send Colon and a player to be named to the Expos.

In 16 games this season, Colon is 10-4 with a 2.55 ERA.

Stevens has been hitting .190 with 10 home runs this season.

Real nice trade for the Indians. They got a guy who can replace Robby Alomar real soon. They got another, good young outfeilder, a good pitcher, and a guy they can keep at first if/and when they trade Thome.

Hmmm, IMO the Expos got the better part of the deal...They got a pretty solid #1 starter who is young and as of now fairly cheap....
And assuming they dont contract could have him next year for a pretty good price as well....

Good trade for the Expos i think. Getting a young star pitcher that ceap doesnt come easy.

The Expos got a really good player, who might be young;), who will deffinatly help them. But on the flip side, they did really weaken their minor leagues with this trade. They weren't very strong to begin with.

Who cares about minor league teams?? Lots of people, myself included.

Uhh, they're only the teams that develop guys like Glavine, both Joneses, Smoltz, Lopez, Furcal, Millwood, Marquis, Perez (key player in Sheffield trade), and I could go on. All have been, or are, key elements in the Braves' being as successful as they are.

And if you want to be technical, minor league teams DO win MLB pennants. Minor league teams win pennants, and since MLB owns the minor leagues too, it is a MLB pennant.

Say what you want about minor league teams. But I guarantee without minor league teams, there is no major league baseball for us to enjoy.

How many times do you here "how could we of traded all of those great young players for one run at the playoffs"? All the time! You can make a huge list of players who were traded for teams to make a run. Thats when all the fans say "man were they dumb to make that trade".

It's no big deal.

Every team has there list of great players they traded away to make a run at the playoffs.

In fact I don't think a team can make the playoffs without making them deals for the team you are fighting with for that playoff spot will make a trade and simply beat you out if you didn't match there move.
