Ok, I was one of the stupid folk to pick up Saarloos when Houston brought him up. Now that he has been sent down I can make get a replacement for him. I am in a shallow NL only league and gave up on saves early on (I only had 2 closers everyone else had 3). I have two questions. 1) Who should I pick up as my replacement for Saarloos : Remlinger, Holms, or Hammond, or should I go after Peavy as a starter. I am leaning towards one of the relief pitchers to help stabalize my ERA/Whip. 2) When I do this I will need to send someone to my bench. Here are my options : Jensen (SF), Marquis (ATL), Tomko (SD). I also have Josh Beckett comming off of the DL after the All-Star Break so I will need to demote someone else then. Or league counts ERA, Whip, W, K, and Sv. Thanks.

Picking up a middle reliever is not going to make up ground on the rest of the teams.
Pick up Jake Peavy, then make the decision who to waive when Beckett is activated..
Brett Tomko has pitched well so far, but I don't see it lasting. His low ERA could be a result of him switching to the NL. I predict his ERA to be close to 5.00 by sept.

i don't think remlinger will help you too much but Peavy, although he had a very rough outing will be solid overall ... i just waived Steve Reed to pick up Peavy myself
a little known fact to help you play your cards right is that PIT's Jimmy Anderson only gets shelled at home ... on the road he has a 2.25 ERA and 6W's ... he's available on many waiver lists so i imagine you can get him fairly easily and play that route if you find yourself really in a pinch ...
Can you work any trades? I just got lucky and sent Bagwell for Gagne but the team had a wealth of closers to deal
