Well, since I'm originally from Michigan I've always been a Tiger fan but this Weaver trade looks like another bad one they always tend to make. David Wells? Phil Nevin? I mean they trade Weaver to New York, as part of a three team deal. Detroit, New York and Oakland and all we get is Pena, some no name and a player to be named later. Doesn't make much sense. Anyway, he's on my fantasy team and he's been pretty solid so far. 6-8 isn't too bad considering Detroit's lack of output. And of course I think that with New York's power Weaver might actually have a chance at a winning record but do you guys think that's enough? I'm planning on keeping him to see how he does with the Yankees but stranger things have happened.

Weavers fantasy value gets a big boost with the move to New York. He'll get better run support and a stronger bullpen behind him.

i don't see how MLB could approve this ... it's a horrible deal for Detroit ... can you say new team on the contraction list?

Pena? for Weaver!! Give me a break ... you would get your ass chewed for even proposing something so proposterous in a fantasy league ...AND THIS IS THE BIGS?????

something else is going on here ... we'll never hear about it but something is up ... i dunnno - maybe it happened at 12:30 in the morning ... :drinkin:

All I hope is that they had the common decency
to give Detroit's GM a reach-a-round and a ride home

Besides losing one of the best young pitchers in the game, the Tigers acquired a firstbaseman. They're LOADED at first base. Now they have two or three major league caliber 1B.

Gotta love this trade if you're an A's fan though. All you give up is Carlos Pena, a prospect, and a PTBNL, and you get Ted Lilly plus two of the Yankees' better prospects.

I totally agree that Detroit got ripped off yet again. The last semi-decent trade they made was for Doyle Alexander and they still lost in the playoffs. And in the end they wish they had never traded Smoltz for an old guy like Alexander but what else is new?

I think Pena could be a decent player but come on! It seems as though they are always willing to take a chance on unknowns. I think Ford is senile.

Ford? I was thinking of the Lions. Another bang-up organization.
