NEW YORK -- Pitcher Kane Davis of the New York Mets had surgery on his right elbow Monday and will miss the rest of the season.
Kane, a right-handed reliever, was 1-1 with a 7.07 ERA in 16 appearances. He walked 11 and struck out 24 in 14 innings.
The 26-year-old last pitched for the Mets on May 12, when he gave up a game-winning home run to Colorado's Larry Walker at Shea Stadium. He was put on the 15-disabled list the next day with a strained lower back.
The Mets said Davis is expected to resume baseball activity in six months following the surgery to repair the flexor tendon and ulnar nerve.
