Injury updates - Carl Everett/Frank Castillo

CF Carl Everett, out for more than a month with a bruised knee, went 2-for-3 with two walks during a rehab assignment for Single-A Sarasota on July 22.

P Frank Castillo, out since June with a muscle strain, threw in the Fenway bullpenon July 23. The Boston Hearld reported that Castillo may make at least one minor league rehab start before being activated.

After 10 days of exercising and strengthening his shoulder, Martinez played long toss in the outfield. He is in the early stage of a graduated throwing program that, barring a setback, should culminate with him returning to action within several weeks
