The Bears made a lot of player moves Friday, signing free agent defensive tackle Christian Peter, claiming fullback Gregg Kellett from the Colts, and agreeing to terms with third-round draft pick Terrence Metcalf.

Peter signed a one-year contract; the terms were not disclosed. Peter, who played college ball at Nebraska, has spent five seasons in the NFL, playing for Indianapolis last year after four seasons with the New York Giants.

Peter was selected in the fifth round of the 1996 draft by New England but was released after the Patriots discovered he had been charged with sexual assault while at Nebraska.

Kellett, a tight end during his college years at Marshall, was originally signed by Indianapolis April 26 as an undrafted free agent.

Metcalf, a two-time first-team all-American and an all-Southeast Conference selection during his collegiate career at Mississippi has signed a three-year contract. Metcalf is the second of the Bears' nine 2002 draft picks to sign; Roosevelt Williams agreed to a contract June 28.

The seven remaining unsigned Bears draft choices are tackle Marc Colombo (1st round, 29th overall), defensive end Alex Brown (4th, 104th), safety Bobby Gray (5th, 140th), linebacker Bryan Knight (5th, 165th), running back Adrian Peterson (6th, 199th), wide receiver Jamin Elliott (6th, 203rd) and tight end Bryan Fletcher (6th, 210th).
