Sedar returns to Brewers
Skipper Eddie Sedar will return as Helena Brewers field manager for the 2006 Pioneer League season, the club announced Monday.
"I am very happy to return to Helena for another summer," Sedar said, via phone from his home in Ogden, Utah. "I wouldn't bet against us having another strong team in 2006."
Joining Sedar will be pitching coach Mark Littell and bench coach Johnny Narron.
Sedar, who played professionally for eight seasons in the White Sox organization, begins his 16th season in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system.
Sedar has worked as field coordinator, roving instructor and minor league field manager in Ogden, from 1998-2001, and joined the Helena team in 2003 and again in 2005.
In 2003, Sedar was named Pioneer League Manager of the Year.
Under Sedar's guide, the Brewers have posted the league best record and won both halves of the Northern Division both seasons.
Sedar's overall record as a manager is 219-186.
"We are excited to have Ed Sedar back at the helm in Helena," said Reid Nichols, director of player development. "There is no better manager to introduce amateur players to professional baseball.
"He brings passion and leadership for his players and staff. The fans will be pleased at the effort they will see on the field."
Littell, a native of Mesa, Ariz., is also familiar with the Pioneer League.
Littell has worked in Helena since professional baseball made its return to the Queen City in 2003. Littell also worked in Ogden in 2002.
Narron returns to Helena as bench coach, a position he maintained in 2003, as well. Narron managed Helena in 2004 guiding the club to a respectable 39-36 record.
In 2005, Narron worked for the West Virginia Power and the Brevard County Manatees as bench coach.
