Preston Wilson's Infant Son Dies
MIAMI (AP) — An infant son born to Florida Marlins center fielder Preston Wilson died 10 days after being born three months premature.
Preston Bernell William Wilson V, born July 13, died Monday night at a South Florida hospital.
Wilson's stepfather, New York Mets coach Mookie Wilson, was with the family when the child died. The Mets are in Miami to play the Marlins through Wednesday.
Preston Wilson and his wife, Trista, were married last offseason, and the baby was their first.
Wilson has been on the disabled list since July 2 with a sprained thumb.
My condolences to Mookie & Rosa Wilson, & Preston who I have known since he was a young kid running around in the stands at Shea.
