For the first time in modern history, Major League Baseball was put on hiatus for a period of days (as with most things) following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
But it wasn't long before our mourning turned to resolve and our way of life continued. But it wasn't without heavy hearts. Yet, like many times in modern history, our pride shows strong in our sports venues. "God Bless America" replaced "Take Me Out to
the Ballgame" and American Pride was displayed by our national pastime.
The Yankees served as a diversion from the pain and a beacon of hope as they advanced to the World Series that season.
Baseball continues to serve us in so many positive ways beyond the ballpark.
