I would prefer the award going to Dye, Thome, Mauer, Morneau, Giambi or Jeter than Ortiz, if the Sox are out of the playoff. It would be quite surprising if Ortiz won the award, if the Sox fail to make the playoff.

Without Jeter, they will probably not be the first game either, because Giambi has not 100 RBI without Jeter. Jeter also deserve a chance for MVP, but power is what most voters seem to concentrate.
