I voted for Richie Sexton in the AL and the NL was tough so I voted 3 times.. 1 for Griffey, 1 for Todd Jones and 1 for Floyd...

Bob Wickman for the AL. After missing the entire 2003 season and having a forgettable season in 04, where he only pitched in 30 games with 13 saves. He returns this year to make the Indians bullpen one of the best in AL, who I believe had the worst bullpen last year. Without Wickman re-surging, Indians would be no where close for the hunt for October.

Ken Griffey Jr. get my vote for the NL. While he might be done for the rest of the season. He still finish the season with 301. average, 35 HR and 92 RBI. An excellent season for Griffey, who has been horriblely injury prone since he arrived in Cincinnati.

Honestly, how could it NOT be Giambi? The guy was a disaster last year and came back with an impressive ba and hr total, proving that you can succeed with out steriods. He serves as an example for young ball players, that steriods are not neccessary for success.

Did Sexson prove that you don't need steriods to succeed?

Giambi had 3 more HRs in 37 more games, and batted .208! 23 RBIs in 23 games? That's terrific for Sexson, or for anyone. He had a great year going last year.

Did Sexson ever take steriods? I think not. So, let's not give Giambi an award, because he decide not to use steriods. In short, that has nothing to do with this award. I would never give an award to proven steriod user, then he comes back the next year not on steriods and prove he doesn't need it.

To answer your question though, YES, he did.. He never took steroids, to our knowledge, and he still is successful.... So he showed you DONT need steroid to succeed.. You are telling me that we should reward Giambi because he cheated, got caught and now is having a good year? Thats absurd!

Sexson HAD a great year going only in 23 games... 23 games! Thats not even 14% of his teams games....

He got hurt, had bad #'s for the year and is TEARING it up this year.....

I'd give it to Wickman 2nd over Giambi...

Comeback- A return to formerly enjoyed status or prosperity.

Giambi has made much more progress towards his former state then Sexson has. Giambi was an MVP. His numbers are great this year and is helping the Yankees make their comback as well. Where is Sexson's team? Last place. Nice comeback, he helped his team do crap and a half.

Bob Wickman is clearly more valuable than Giambi if you want to use who's more valuable to the team.

Wickman was barely there last year and the Indians had the worst bullpen last year. He came back this year and now they have in the hunt for 1st place. Giambi been good, but the lose of one bat won't kill the Yankees, they proved that last year playing without Giambi mostly and making it to the ALCS.

So, you're cool with a dude who was a former steriod user winning the award? Ok, so Giambi use steriods again 2004 year, but he sucked, then he come back next year, 2005, he should be award the comeback player of the year award? I will say I don't know if Giambi used steriods last year or not. Can we say for a fact he didn't?

Weren't Giambi's numbers down from that internal infection or whatever it was, not steroids.

I haven't looked at the stats, but I would give it to Wickman because he has been the main leader, of an extremely young team on the verge of a playoff birth, and Giambi has a ton of talent around him to help with his comeback.

The award is not meant for who is more valuable to his team and how his team is doing.. The award is meant for somone that either was injured or was just plain horrible the year before....

I just take it as looking at the stats from 1 season to the other.... I think the AL is very close and I dont hold Giambi's steroid use against him but I certainly dont give him extra credit for using them either....
