Work out and Fitness Goals

Hey durango had a pretty good idea. So i thought i would set up a goals set and Goals met thread for any of us work out aholics. and also to chart progress.

My first goal: to weigh 155 lbs by Memorial Day. When i stepped on the scale on saturday, i weighed 172. I needed to lose 20 lbs not 15 (i was a bit heavier than i thought at 175).

My second goal: to run an 11 minute mile by May 1. I ran a 12:30 mile today and a 13:30 second mile this evening. (all told 4.4 miles in 60 minutes).

so hopefully i can meet those goals.

I don't work out (I really should, I probably wouldn't be so lethargic (sp?).

I miss bike riding.

Good luck, it is a good idea to set personal goals. Godspeed and I hope you reach all of your goals.

thanks. i was the same way kat. i was a lazy SOB who only rode the bike during the summer. but i dont wanna end up like my dad, so hence the need to work out before it gets toooo late! lol

but see, early last week i was struggling at a 17 minute mile, as i couldnt run longer than two minutes at a time. now i can run at 4.9-5.2mph for a 6 minute stretch.

I am currently 5'11", 172. I want to be 163 by the end of May. My workouts are fine, but I will cut back my diet starting April 1. I have some mountain bike races coming up this summer and I need to shed some pounds. Less body weight = less weight to lug around on a bike. I'm doing a 24 hour relay race in June and 10 less pounds makes a big difference.

I don't have a lot of body fat now, so I will be going from lean to very lean.

Babs you lose anymore weight, I'll be able to throw you across Fenway. But, I know for biking purposes it helps.

Good luck to all of you achieving your goals

I guess my goal would be to maintain what I have been doing the last year or so.....

Can't go any lower in weight but would like to add some muscle....

I'm going to watch my nephew in a triathalon this weekend, think it's a 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run ... In order to stay fit while watching him, I'll drink Coors Light I will burn some calories chasing my little 3-year-old great niece (grand niece?) around.

Now that's what I call a fitness regime.

Good luck to you all!

actually, willie you know what, i am close to actually doing the training for a triatholon as i usually do both biking and riding. but i dont do swimming as i have MAJOR trouble swimming (i can only swim on my back and doggy paddle).

my supervisor at work tried to get me to enroll into the half version of a chicago triatholon but i said naw cuz i was still anti working out at that time. now, i think i would be alright if it was in june as i would probably be ready. (the half is 3 miles running, 15 miles biking, .5 mile swimming)

i cheated tonight and drank three glasses of Makers Mark on the rocks plus a chicken WRAP. but i have given myself permission ONE DAY a week to drink/eat semi crappily. as long as its only one day a week.

Jen, i have found that listening to heavy metal music makes me work out harder. Like every time i start thinking about ending that portion of the workout, i'm like "OH NO! at least let me finish this song" three songs later I'm still going. lol
