There hasn't been any real news lately regarding Phillips' future or a long-term deal. He was the lone Reds player to get his contract renewed at the club's terms during Spring Training, but all signs point to positive feelings on both sides.
On the day of his renewal, Phillips made it clear he wanted to be a Red long-term, especially since his career took off in Cincinnati after fading in Cleveland. He reiterated that point earlier this month.
"I want to spend the rest of my career here," said Phillips, who leads Major League second basemen with 19 homers this season. "I want to step in where [Barry] Larkin left off. How Larkin was to this city, I want to be to this city. They opened their arms to me, opened the doors. They let me come over and play."

I was reading this and thought I should share. Krivsky is a not to make his contract extended. He has matured as a player since he came, though still growing. He is the defensive/offensive second basemen we need.
